The first boat unnamed was conceived by a group of friends in 1971. It was built of wood about 30 feet long and 8 feet wide and was powered by a Chevy 6 cylinder engine and driven by a 7-foot diameter paddle wheel. This method was chosen for financial reasons not any great love of the nostalgia. The novel thing about this boat was that it floated on 55-gallon steel drums, 50 of them. After awhile the bands holding the drums in place broke producing some strange antics. If a drum came out, everyone went to that side of the boat to retrieve the drum.  This caused the boat to list and release more drums from the other side.  This boat was not put in the water in 73 & 74 due to this reoccurring problem.
